Abstract
Liechtenstein’s updated climate plan reinforces its commitment to limiting global warming in line with the Paris Agreement. The country has set progressively ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets and a long-term goal of achieving net-zero emissions. Its strategy focuses on nearly eliminating energy-related emissions and significantly reducing emissions from agriculture and waste, with a portion of reductions expected through international cooperation. Despite its small size, Liechtenstein has shown leadership by separating economic growth from emissions. Its legal framework promotes renewable energy, electric mobility, and energy-efficient buildings. The country collaborates regionally with Switzerland and the EU and supports local innovation to ensure alignment with broader climate objectives. These efforts position Liechtenstein as a credible contributor to global climate mitigation and long-term stabilization of greenhouse gas levels.
