Abstract
The present Ordinance defines wood waste as including old wood from building demolitions, renovations, packaging materials, furniture, and specially treated wood. It establishes guidelines for facilities that serve as intermediate storage and processing sites for wood waste, specifying that these sites must prevent pollution and comply with environmental laws. The ordinance prohibits the mixing of wood waste with other types of waste and forbids its use in ways that could release pollutants into the environment, such as using it in soil, compost, or as fuel.
To operate a wood waste storage or processing facility, a permit from the Office for Environment is required. The application for this permit must include detailed descriptions of the facility's location, size, and activities, as well as the types and quantities of wood waste to be handled. The Office for Environment ensures that the facility meets all environmental and zoning regulations before granting the permit, which is valid for up to five years and can be renewed. The office may impose additional conditions to protect the environment, such as requiring analyses of the wood waste's pollutant content. Violations of the ordinance can result in penalties, including the revocation of the facility's permit.
