Abstract
This Act is enacted to provide for the prevention and punishment of bribery and to make consequential provisions relating to the operation of other written law.
There shall be appointed, for the purposes of this Act, a Bribery Commissioner and such other officers as may be necessary. Allegations of bribery shall be investigated by Bribery Commissioner or authorized officer. The President may appoint, by warrant under the Public Seal of the Republic, a commission of inquiry consisting of one or more members to inquire into and report on any allegations of bribery. The President shall order the publication of the report of a commission of inquiry if in his opinion the public interest will not suffer by such publication. The Commissioner-General of Inland Revenue shall report to the Bribery Commissioner for investigation any case where he suspects from information available to him that any person is guilty of bribery.
The Act further makes provisions, inter alia, for: offences and penalties; power of the Bribery Commissioner to obtain information and assistance; publication of proceedings held in camera and report of commission of inquiry; etc.
