Cabinet Decision to Approve the Act to Amend the Divineguma Act, No. 1 of 2013.

The Cabinet has already granted approval to amend the Divineguma Act, No.1 of 2013, in order to substitute the name 'Divineguma' with the name of 'Samurdhi', taking into consideration the requests made by small groups organized for the upliftment of living conditions of low income communities; societies; associations and village level officers who implement related programmes. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. S.B. Dissanayake, the Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare, to publish the Amendment Bill prepared for the said purpose by the Legal Draftsman, in the Government Gazette and present it, thereafter, in the Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
