Abstract
These Regulations, consisting of 15 sections and three Schedules, shall permit the import of coral species which are not reported to be present in Sri Lanka waters. Every permit to import any species of corals which are listed in the convention on International Trade in Endangered species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) shall be obtained from the Department of Wild Life Conservation and in respect of other species a license shall be issued by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources under Section 39 of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act as specified in Schedule II. An application for a license to cultivate coral species on artificial substrates for export shall be made according to the prescribed form specified in the Schedule I (Application for a license to transport Coral Species, or Artificial Substrates); Schedule II (Form of License to transport Coral species on artificial substrates) and Schedule III (Standards approved by National Aquaculture Development Authority).
