Abstract
The Ordinance establishes the obligation of the seller to give to the purchaser a statement in writing (the so called "statutory statement") specifying the name under which the article is sold, the nature, and the chemical composition of the fertilizer. The statutory statement given by the seller shall have effect as a written warranty that the particulars contained therein are correct. The purchaser of any article specified in column I of the First Schedule to this Act or of any fertilizer in respect of which a warranty of the seller has been given, may apply in writing to the competent Fertilizer Inspector that a sample of such article be taken by the Inspector for analysis by a Fertilizer Analyst. Further provisions establish the procedure that follows the submission of the application by the purchaser. Moreover, the Act regulates the marking of fertilizers prepared for sale or consignment, the keeping and inspection of registers and statutory statements, offences and penalties. The Minister may, after consultation with appropriate associations and other bodies, appoint an advisory committee consisting of such number of members, as he may deem necessary.
