Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (Amendment) Act, No. 35 of 2013.

This Act amends the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act, No. 2 of 1996.
Amendments include: substitution of words in the long title; substitution of section 3 on the establishment of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Advisory Council; insertion of a new heading to Part II to read ‘Licensing of Fishing Operations in Sri Lanka Waters’; insertion of a new Part IIA on the licensing of fishing operations in the high seas; insertion of new sections 16A and 16 B on the cancellation or suspension of registration of fishing boats and the licence for fishing operations; substitution of section 31 with a new section addressing Fisheries Management Areas and insertion of new sections 31A and 31B providing for the designation of Fisheries Management Coordinating Committees and for the preparation of Fisheries Development and Management Plans; substitution of section 49 with new provisions on offences; and substitution of sections 61 and 66 dealing with powers of the Minister to make regulations and the insertion of new definitions, respectively.
Furthermore, minor word changes have been made to sections 15, 28, 32 and throughout the text.
