Abstract
These Regulations, consisting of nine sections and one Schedule, regulate the use of sweeteners in food. The Regulations prohibit: the import, storage, distribution, transportation, sale, exposition or advertisement for sale any sweetener other than a permitted sweetener for use in any food; the use of any sweetener in food especially prepared for infants or young children; the use of any permitted sweetener exceeding the maximum usable dose specified in corresponding entry in Column 4 of the Schedule I. A combination of permitted sweeteners may be used subject to the requirements in clause 5(c). The Schedule lists Permitted sweeteners, food product in which permitted sweeteners may be used and Maximum usable dose.
