Abstract
These Regulations are made under section 32 of the Food Act, No. 26 of 1980. They prohibit any person from selling or advertising for sale, any packaged food product containing trans-fat unless the total amount of trans-fat of such food product as per 100g or 100ml of the food product is declared on the label of such packaged food product. Regulation 4 states that retail sale or wholesale of any food product intended to be used by a final consumer is prohibited if content of trans-fat exceeds two percent of the total fat contained in the food. The manufacture, import, transport, distribution, storing, selling and advertising any partially hydrogenated oils is also prohibited. The use of partially hydrogenated oils in the preparation of food or as an ingredient in food products is not allowed.
