Import and Export of Cultured Coral Species on Artificial Substrates Regulations, No. 1 of 2023.

These Regulations are made by the Minister of Fisheries under Paragraph (u) of subsection (1) of section 61 of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act, No. 02 of 1996. They require permit to import any species of coral which are listed in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) to be obtained from Department of Wild Life conservation and for other species, a license shall be issued by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources. The criteria for import or export of coral species cultured on artificial substrates is laid down including process of culture and approval from National Aquaculture Development Authority. The procedure to obtain licence to export and import cultured coral species on artificial substrates is provided.
