National Environmental (Amendment) Act, No. 15 of 2026.

This Act amends the National Environmental Act, No. 47 of 1980 (principal Act). Sections 2, 3, 7, 8, 12, 23A and 23B are amended. Section 23C is repealed and section 23D is substituted. A new section 23DA is added after section 23D. Section 23E is amended and thereafter, three new parts are added which are PART IVaa (Hazardous Waste Management), PART IVaa (Management of Chemicals), and PART IVac (Control of Wastewater Discharged to the Environment). Further, sections 23H, 23K, 23N and 23R are amended. A new section 23RA in respection of pollution caused by vibration is added. Section 23V and 23W are amended and a new section 23WA is added. Sections 23AA, 23BB and 23DD are amended. New sections 23GG, 23HH and 23JJ are added. Thereafter, new parts are added which are, PART IVD (Strategic Environmental Assessment), PART IVE (Conservation of Wetlands), PART IVF (Extended Producer Responsibility) and PART IVG (Offences and Penalties). New sections 24AA, 24BA, 24CA and 27A are added.
