Abstract
This Act establishes the National Institute of Fisheries and Nautical Engineering (sect. 2). The Institute aims to formulate courses of study and training in fisheries and nautical engineering programmes with a view to raising the technical and managerial skills of those persons employed or engaged in the industry (sect. 3). The Institute aims to also promote research, surveys and education in the field of fishing (sect. 3). Section 4 lists the powers of the Institute including appointments and fees. The administration, management and control of the Institute shall be vested in the Governing Council of the Institute (sect. 5) whose powers and functions are listed in section 13. The Council shall have the power to make appointments to the Institute and there are further provisions regarding funding (sect. 22). The Minister may make regulations which shall be published in the Gazette (sect. 34).
