Abstract
The Policy lays out the importance of adherence to environmentally friendly production practices and consumptions patterns and prevention of over-exploitation and wastage of fisheries and aquatic resources. The vision of the Policy is that Sri Lanka becomes a leader in the south Asian region in sustainable utilization of fisheries and aquatic resources. The Policy follows the goals to achieve and to ensure sustainable fisheries development; high standard of quality and safety of fish and aquatic products; management and conversation of fisheries; to alleviate poverty and upgrade the living standards of the fisher and coastal communities; and to contribute to the country's economy. The text has 7 Sections.
