Abstract
The Policy indicates that tourism industry consumes a substantial amount of natural resources such as water, sandy beaches, natural parks, forest covers, inland water bodies, lands and etc. The Policy is designed in 5 parts and provides for cleaner production practices to be embraced by the tourism sector. The Policy vision is to ensure environmental friendly tourism through incorporating best practices. The Policy objectives are to transform tourism into an environmental friendly sustainable industry; enhance optimal utilization of natural and human resources by incorporating ecologically sound practices; ensure sustainable use of socio cultural heritage; consider social responsibility and environmentally sustainable market strategies for diversified tourism and improving living standards of the communities.
