Abstract
The Policy directs and strengthens the regulations, goals, objectives, strategies, actions and roles of all government and non- governmental organizations working directly or indirectly on mangrove ecosystems. The scope of the Policy extends to conservation, research, land use, land conversions, sustainable resource extraction and restoration of mangroves of Sri Lanka. The Policy provides the vision of a healthy mangrove ecosystem with rich biodiversity supporting the nation with direct and indirect services. The Policy is drafted in 9 Sections and provides for Policy goals, Policy statements, applicability and scope, Policy implementation including strategies, responsibility and authority and monitoring.
