Abstract
This Policy aims to ensure the life cycle management of chemicals in a way to reduce harm to human health and environment. It is based on the Precautionary Principle, Proximity Principle and Polluter Pay Principle, within the framework of sustainable development for the benefit of the present and the future generations. The Policy lays down the objectives, principles and policy statements. The strategies for sustainable chemicals management are provided which cover various aspects such as technological interventions, coordination mechanisms, inspections, reporting, data collection, chemical risk assessments, strengthening legal framework, disposal infrastructure, import and export and disaster management.
