Abstract
The Ordinance provides for the protection of any domestic or captive animal from cruelty, abuse, neglect or overwork. Disabled or ill animals shall not be used for any labor and, in case the owner lets them working, he/she shall be fined or serve a prison term. Any location may be appointed as animal infirmary and treatment administered to injured or sick animals under the obligations of this Ordinance.When animals are in a terminal condition, any Police Officer, in absence of its owner or keeper, may summon a Veterinary Surgeon in order to evaluate the animal health conditions and, if the Veterinary Surgeon approves of it, have the animal finished off. Offenders shall be fined or jailed depending on the seriousness of the offence.
