Abstract
This Act concerns the protection of tenants in Sri Lanka. Landlords of premises are forbidden from using or threatening force or violence against tenants or persons in occupation of premises (sect. 2). A court order is required to eject a tenant from premises (sect. 5). There are provisions concerning the procedure for ejectment (sect. 6) and the powers of the Commissioner (sect. 7). The Commissioner may institute a prosecution in respect of any offence under this Act. Section 9 concerns offences and penalties that may arise under the provisions.
