Abstract
These Regulations are made by the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development and Rural Economy under Section 61(1)(t) of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act, No. 2 of 1996, for the purpose of implementing, conservation and management measures adopted by the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission.
Minimum Standards for the Citizens of Sri Lanka Engaged in Fishing Operations in Foreign Flagged Fishing Boats Regulations published in the Gazette Extraordinary No. 1945/7 of December 14, 2015 are hereby amended by the addition immediately after regulation 6 thereof of the following regulation :- “7. No citizen of Sri Lanka serving in a foreign flagged fishing vessel within the Exclusive Economics Zone of Sri Lanka, High seas or within the Exclusive Economic Zone of any other state shall engage in any illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing activity.”.
