Abstract
This Act amends the Sri Lanka Tea Board Act No. 14 of 1975 by inserting a new section immediately after section 6 of the above mentioned Sri Lanka Tea Board Law, establishing new competence and requirements of the Working Director of the Board and shall have effect as section 6A of that enactment. The Minister may appoint to the Board, a Working Director other than the members referred to in section 6 from among persons who have had wide experience in the area of tea industry. The Working Director shall assist the Chairman in the promotion of the development of the tea industry within and outside Sri Lanka; and assist the Chairman in the administration, management and operation of the affairs of the Board including the co-ordination of the activities of the Board. The term of office of the Working Director shall be for a period of three years from the date of appointment.
