Abstract
These Regulations, made under sections 41, 42 and 43 of the Environment Protection and Management Law, provide standards for noise and vibrations; prescribe the maximum permissible noise and vibrations levels from a facility or activity to which a person may be exposed; ensure control of noise and mitigation measures for the reduction of noise. The Regulations, divided into ten parts, concern the following matters: general prohibitions concerning noise, measurements, control and exemptions; general prohibitions and noise control provisions; noise limits for automobiles, transport and traffic; environmental impact assessment; compliance and enforcement; permits for noise and vibrations in excess of permissible levels; permitted activities; mapping of zones for noise and excessive vibrations control; offences and penalties; enforcement measures.
