Penal Law - Title 26 - Liberian Code of Laws Revised.

This Penal Law, divided into three Parts, provides for establishing a system of prohibitions and penalties to deal with conduct that unjustifiably and inexcusably causes or threatens to harm those individual or public interests for which government protection of this kind is appropriate. Part I concerns general provisions; part II concerns specific offences; part III focuses on sentencing system. Relevant offences include: bribery and intimidation of public servants; offences against civil rights; offences against property: arson, reckless burning or exploding, failure to control or report dangerous fire, criminal intrusion, causing catastrophe with release of poison gas, radioactive material or other dangerous and difficult-to-confine force or substance, trespass upon land, unauthorised occupation, possession, sale or other conveyance of property; obstructing highways and other public passages; cruelty to animals, excluding any accepted veterinary practices and activities carried on for scientific research.
