Abstract
Out of environmental concern, the Forestry Development Authority hereby regulates the ever-increasing activity of pit-sawing. Pit-sawing means small-scale commercial logging activities other that concession logging allowed in heavily fragmented patches of forests that are not suited for a grant of concession. Each operator shall obtain a permit from the FDA for pit-sawing operations. No pit-sawing shall take place in National Forests, environmentally-threatened areas, National Parks and Salvage areas. Other rules impose fees for registration and other fees, defines offences and prescribe penalties.
