Food Fortification (Amendment) Regulations, 2024 (Legal Notice No. 87 of 2024).

This Legal Notice amends the original Regulations by introducing detailed requirements for the fortification of staple foods and by defining the regulatory benchmarks applicable throughout the supply chain. The attached Schedule sets out the mandatory nutrient composition for wheat flour, maize flour, sugar, and edible oil, identifies the approved fortifying substances and premixes, and establishes the technical standards governing their application. It further provides quality-control and compliance criteria, including target nutrient concentrations and permissible ranges at the stages of production, importation, and retail distribution, thereby strengthening the framework for the implementation and monitoring of food fortification measures.
