Game Preservation Proclamation (No. 33 of 1951).

This Proclamation protects all wildlife capable of being hunted, by requiring hunting licenses for hunting and providing for a closed season and the declaration of wild life sanctuaries. The Proclamation further protects game from being destroyed or brought to extinction through bad hunting practices. The Proclamation lists in its Schedules protected royal game and protected game.
The period from the first day of September in each year to the last day of February in the succeeding year, both days inclusive, shall be a close season for game hunting. Hunting licences shall be issued by the Resident Commissioner or any officer authorized by the Resident Commissioner. Hunting of royal game requires a special permit from the Resident Commissioner in addition to the normal hunting licence. No hunting may be undertakes without a valid licence. The Resident Commissioner may, after consultation with the Paramount Chief, declare specified areas to be a wild life sanctuary. No person shall within any wild life sanctuary hunt any animal or bird whether protected or not unless (s)he is in possession of a special permit for this purpose issued by the Resident Commissioner.
