Abstract
This Act provides for the establishment of a Commission for the preservation of natural and historical monuments, relics and antiques and protection of fauna and flora as a body corporate. It empowers the Minister to declare any object, monument, relics antique, fauna and flora and any area of land containing objects of archaeological, historical or scientific or historical interest, any water fall, cave, grotto, avenue of trees, old tree or old building and any other object (whether natural or constructed by man; of aesthetic, historical, archaeological, or scientific value). The Commission shall compile a list of monuments and relics, fauna and flora species to be protected by Proclamation of the Minister under section 8, purchase or assume control over protected objects and maintain a register of protected objects and otherwise assist the Minister in the preservation and protection of natural and historical monuments, relics, antiques, fauna and flora. No person shall without written consent of the Commission destroy, damage or remove from its original habitat or export any protected fauna or flora.
