Abstract
This Government Resolution designates the Ministry of Environment as the management authority for the CITES Convention and Council Regulation (EC) No 338/97. The Ministry is responsible for performing management functions, communicating with other member states, the Secretariat, and the European Commission, and submitting required implementation reports and information. The Environmental Protection Agency is specifically appointed as the management authority responsible for issuing the permits, certificates, and other documents required by the Regulation. Additionally, the Institute of Botany and the Institute of Ecology of Vilnius University are assigned to perform the functions of scientific institutions as defined by the Convention and Regulation.
