Law No. XIII-287 amending Law No.I-1613 of 1996 on nuclear energy.

Article 22 establishes the competence and plenary powers of State Nuclear Energy Security Inspectorate. Article 25 shall be amended to add the following wording: “The environmental impact of the planned economic activity related to nuclear energy must be evaluated and the location of the site for the construction of the nuclear facility must be selected in accordance with the Law on Environmental Impact Assessment, the Law on Territorial Planning and other legal acts. Prior to the development of a project for a nuclear power plant adapted specifically for the site of a nuclear power plant, environmental security analysis and justification of the site for the construction of a nuclear facility must be performed in accordance with the procedure established by the Law on Nuclear Security.” Article 34 shall be amended to add the following wording: “The boundaries of the restricted zone for a particular nuclear facility are determined by the State Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate taking into account the characteristics of the nuclear facility. The external boundaries of the restricted zone of a nuclear facility cannot be more than 3 kilometers away from the nuclear facility, and the information about the organization's nuclear facilities must be marked with information signs. In the event that a restricted access zone of one nuclear facility falls into the restricted zone of another nuclear facility and the outer limits of the zones differ, only the external boundaries of the restricted access area which cover the larger territory shall be marked with information signs.”
