Law No. XIII-654 amending Law No.I-1613 of 1996 on nuclear energy.

Article 21 establishes that when performing statutory functions, the State Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate decides independently. The functions of the State Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate are separated from other institutions, bodies or organizations involved in the development of nuclear energy or the use of nuclear energy, including electricity generation. Article 39 establishes that work on the elimination of nuclear and radiological accidents and their consequences shall be carried out in accordance with the national plan for the protection of population in the event of a nuclear or radiological emergency, plans for the management of emergency situations of the authorities and establishments specified in this plan, prepared in accordance with the Law on Civil Protection and the emergency preparedness plan for the nuclear facility under the Nuclear Safety Law.
