Law No. XIII-776 amending Law on wildlife (No. VIII-498).

Article 9 shall be amended to add the following wording: “The transfer of wild fauna species shall be performed in accordance with programs or plans agreed with the relevant scientific institution and the Ministry of Environment. If the wild fauna species not listed in the program or plan are transferred or released, a permit from the Ministry of Environment is required. In exceptional cases, in order to preserve animals from destruction, it is allowed to transfer or release animals of species naturally occurring in the wild in Lithuania, after informing the Environmental Protection Department.” Article 20 shall be amended to add the following wording: “State control over the use of wild fauna species and wildlife resources shall be performed by the Department of Environmental Protection, the State Food and Veterinary Service, the Customs Department under the Ministry of Finance and other institutions authorized by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, in accordance with the procedure established by the laws and other legal acts.”
