Abstract
This ministerial order approves the Rules on Hunting in the Territory of the Republic of Lithuania, establishing the formal requirements for the management and use of wild game resources. The instrument regulates the use of wild fauna and provides for the maintenance of the conservation status of species and their habitats. The rules categorize huntable wild animals into large and small game and set out the biological and safety requirements for hunting activities.
The provisions establish the technical requirements for hunting gear and methods, including specifications for firearms and traps. They outline administrative procedures for mandatory hunting documentation and the reporting of hunting results. The document also sets the official hunting calendar and defines the mechanisms for determining harvest limits, carcass identification, and the management of hunting within enclosed territories.
The rules include measures for environmental protection and animal health, including protocols for the reporting and handling of diseased or wounded animals. The text describes restrictions on hunting in proximity to water bodies and within protected natural areas, such as prohibitions on certain types of ammunition. Finally, the instrument identifies the criteria for hunting violations and the legal basis for the suspension of hunting rights and the imposition of liability for non-compliance with the prescribed standards.
