Order No. 375 on the approval of the Organic Production Rules.

These Organic Production Rules establish the legal framework governing organic production in the Republic of Lithuania. They set out the requirements applicable to the production, processing, distribution, and marketing of organic products, and define the procedures for certification and official control. The text regulates the obligations of operators seeking to obtain and maintain organic status, including notification, inspection, and certification requirements, as well as the role of The Ministry of Agriculture, the State Food and Veterinary Service and the State Plant Service in supervising compliance.
The regulation provides detailed provisions on plant and animal production, including requirements relating to seeds and planting material, fertilization and plant protection practices, animal husbandry, feeding, and welfare. It also establishes rules for the processing, handling, transport, and storage of organic products, including provisions on labelling and traceability to ensure the integrity of organic products throughout the supply chain. Conditions governing the conversion from conventional to organic production and the use of non-organic inputs in specific cases are also addressed. The text mandates the use of specific national databases for organic seeds and organic livestock and aquaculture.
The Rules further include specific provisions on aquaculture production, setting out requirements aimed at ensuring appropriate management practices and limiting environmental impact. They establish obligations relating to record-keeping and control procedures, and provides for measures in cases of non-compliance, including the suspension or withdrawal of certification.
