Abstract
This Regulation determines the procedure for implementing the functions of the soil reference laboratory and recognizes the right of other laboratories to perform analyzes for the purposes of agrochemical soil research. The State Plant Protection Service performing the functions of a reference laboratory in the field of soils: (a) publishes information on applicable soil testing methods on its website; and (b) evaluates and recognizes the rights of other laboratories to perform analyzes for the purposes of agrochemical soil research. The reference laboratory has the following duties: (a) to maintain and develop soil testing methods, as well as develop result conversion equations between methods; (b) to test soils for the purposes of agrochemical research; (c) to participate and perform testing in soil monitoring programs; (d) to coordinate the activities of recognized laboratories in the field of soil testing; (e) to organize interlaboratory comparative testing in the field of soil testing; (f) to organize training on soil testing; and (g) to cooperate with the laboratories of Latvia, the European Union and other countries in the field of soil testing.
