Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers No.536 validating the procedure for granting, administering and monitoring state aid for the implementation of the rye bread program in educational institutions.

This Regulation determines the procedure for granting, administering and monitoring state support for the implementation of the rye bread program in educational institutions between September 1 and December 31, 2024. The support is granted, administered and monitored by the Rural Support Service. The support applicant implementing the rye bread program in educational institutions is an association or foundation registered in the Register of Associations and Foundations and meeting the following criteria: (a) brings together no less than 10 producers of rye bread and suppliers of raw materials necessary for its production; (b) represents the interests of the bread production industry in state administration and other institutions for no less than five years; (c) educating the public about bread traditions in Latvia for no less than five years: (d) implementing at least five events that inform and educate about Latvian traditional rye bread and its importance in nutrition; (e) implementing at least five events that inform and educate about a healthy lifestyle, as well as the consumption of bread and its products; (f) participating in at least one international event, informing and educating about the inclusion of bread, especially rye bread, in the diet; and (g) has cooperated with educational institutions in the development or implementation of curricula to prepare young specialists in professions related to bread production. The total amount of support in 2024 is 300,000 euros. Rye bread is distributed at events in accordance with the regulatory enactments regulating food circulation.
