Decree No. 725 of the Cabinet of Ministers validating the Regulation on mandatory requirements for safety and labelling of food additives (enriching agents)and the modalities of registration of food additives (enriching agents).

This Decree establishes mandatory requirements for safety and labelling of food additives (enriching agents) and the modalities of registration of food additives (enriching agents). Food and Veterinary Service shall be supervisory body over the application of this Decree. Vitamins and mineral substances listed in the Annex 1 shall be authorized for utilization in the process of manufacturing food additives (enriching agents). Latvian Food Centre shall be registration authority and shall keep and update register of authorized food additives (enriching agents). Labelling of food additives shall be performed in accordance with the requirements set forth for labelling of foodstuffs. In addition the label shall bear the inscription “Contains food additives”.
