Abstract
This Regulation sets out the procedures according to which the Latvian catalogue of plant varieties shall be compiled and updated. All activities related to the compilation and updating of the catalogue shall be carried out by the State Plant protection Service. A variety shall be included in the catalogue if 1). The variety is sufficiently uniform and stable; 2). The name of the variety is in conformity with the requirements of the International Union for the Protection of Names of Varieties of Plants (UPOV) in relation to the international cultivated plant nomenclature; and 3). The National Plant Variety Council, after assessing the value for cultivation and use of the variety, has affirmed that it is in conformity with the requirements of the present Regulation. The document consists of X Sections. Section I lays down general provisions. Section II establishes the modalities of inclusion of a variety in the catalogue. Section III regards submission of an application and examination of a variety. Section IV concerns notification and appeal of results. Section V deals with storage and publication of information. Section VI determines information to be set out in the catalogue. Section VII determines responsibilities of the representative for a variety. Section VIII determines duration of inclusion of a variety in the catalogue. Section IX regards withdrawing of a variety from the catalogue. Section X lays down final provisions.
