Law amending Law on Circulation of Genetically Modified Organisms (2007).

Circulation of genetically modified organisms shall be activities related to the genetically modified microorganism and the limited use of genetically modified organisms, as well as the intentional or unintentional distribution of genetically modified organisms. In accordance with the regulatory enactments on environmental protection and environmental impact assessment, the State Environmental Service participates in monitoring of compliance with environmental protection conditions in cases where genetically modified organisms are distributed in the environment for testing or genetically modified crops are grown, as well as in cases where the uncontrolled spread of genetically modified organisms in the environment has occurred. In case of a serious risk to human and animal health or the environment, or if the requirements of regulatory acts regulating the circulation of genetically modified organisms are violated, the competent authorities have the right to establish restrictions or prohibitions.
