Plan for introducing measures to supply schools with fruit and vegetables (2010–2013)

The Plan for introducing measures to supply schools with fruit and vegetables (2010–2013) is a sectoral action plan of Latvia. Its main objective is to increase the consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables as part of the diet of pupils at general educational establishments. Among others, it provides to provide fresh fruit and vegetables for pupils free of charge; to increase pupils' knowledge of healthy diet and the significance of fresh fruit and vegetables in such a diet; to involve the Ministry of Health, the Health Economics Centre, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and the Environment and representatives of the fruit and vegetable production sector in solving the issue of healthy diets for pupils; and to assess the impact of the introduction of the plan on the target group in order to improve it.
