Regulation of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 134 in Riga on March 26, 2019 (Prot. No. 16 § 19) Procedure for registration of agricultural and aquaculture animals, their herds and enclosures and labeling of agricultural animals.

This Regulation determine the procedure for registering agricultural and aquaculture animals, their herds and enclosures, as well as the procedure for marking agricultural animals. Herd shall be intended a group of agricultural animals or a farm of aquaculture animals belonging to one animal owner; shed shall be intended any room, structure or outdoor environment or place where agricultural or aquaculture animals are kept permanently or for a certain period of time. This Regulation shall be applicable to equine animals, cattle, sheep and goats, swine, fur bearing animals, rabbits, poultry and bees. The responsibilities of the owner or keeper of animals are: (a) register and mark farm animals and update information on their marking, movement and other animal-related events; (b) to be responsible for farm animals during exhibition, trading and competitions, as well as during animal transportation, if the owner or keeper of the animals himself is transporting them; (c) to create and maintain the register of cattle, pigs, horses, sheep and goats in electronic or paper form and update information about the changes that have occurred in it; and (c) at the request of the Agricultural Data Center or the Food and Veterinary Service, to provide all necessary information about the origin, marking, registration, movement, type of keeping and other animal-related events of farm animals, as well as about the way manure is stored in the barn. It is allowed to move and expropriate live farm animals and sell farm animal products, if the herd and housing of farm or aquaculture animals are registered and the farm animals are marked and registered in accordance with the requirements mentioned in these regulations. The register of agricultural animals, herds and shelters of the Data Center is a part of the state information system Agricultural Data Center Information System .
