Abstract
This Resolution consisting of 25 articles aims at organizing structure and defining functions of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal and Marine Wealth and its administrative units.
The main tasks of the Ministry are: establishing the national policy in the fields of agriculture and animal and marine wealth, leading to the development and conservation of these resources; developing plans and programs necessary to increase agricultural production and animal and marine resources so as to ensure a good level, in quantity and quality, of national production and preserve the local breeds; fulfilling agricultural and veterinary quarantine and implementation of studies on the epidemiological monitoring of animal, plant and fish diseases; conducting studies and research on the development of agricultural, marine and livestock production; activating the role of the private sector and encourage the establishment of small and medium enterprises in the agricultural, animal and marine activities; preparing and collecting data, information and statistics on agricultural, animal, marine and water resources activity; issuing the permits required for the import and export of animals and birds, pesticides, vaccines, serums and veterinary medicines; drawing investment policies in the reclaimed land in order to achieve the distribution of the population concentrated in the cities, together with a public policy for agricultural cooperation; encouraging the production, collecting, improvement and multiplication of seeds; preparing the necessary plans to control the desert locust and agricultural pests; developing apiculture; and monitoring changes in the natural resources and take the necessary measures to preserve and develop them.
The Ministry heads a number of entities, centers and committees, specialized in the various spheres of activity; while to its organizational structure belong numerous divisions. Apart from the administrative, legal and financial divisions, they are as follows: grasslands and forests; agricultural development; animal production; horticulture; agricultural, animal and marine investment; agricultural land protection; cooperation, tutorship and agricultural and marine communication. For each of them, the Law lists tasks and specializations.
