Abstract
This Resolution consisting of 12 articles aims at establishing the Libyan Center for Plant Protection and Plant Quarantine under the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal and Marine Wealth. Main tasks of the Center are: monitoring the implementation of plant protection and agricultural quarantine legislation; controlling the quarantine centers in the country; regularly monitoring public and private plant nurseries to insure that are free from diseases and plant pests; granting import and export permits for plant products; issuing information and reports on agricultural quarantine; conducting surveys on plant pests; preparing integrated programs on biological control; conducting registered pesticides assessment and their effectiveness on combatting plant pests; organizing pesticides’ circulation in Libya.
The Center shall be conducted by a Management Committee responsible for preparing and presenting plans and programs necessary to achieve the objectives; setting up technical rules. The Resolution deals also with the financial matters of the Center.
