General People’s Committee Decision No. 260 of A.J. 1377 (A.D. 2009) concerning the declaration of the exclusive economic zone of the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya.

This Decision of the General Popular Committee declares an exclusive economic zone of the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, adjacent to and extending as far beyond its territorial waters as permitted under international law. The Decision also stipulate that, if necessary, the outer limits of this zone shall be established together with neighbouring States in accordance with instruments concluded on the basis of international law and that Libya shall have sovereign rights in the EEZ for the purpose of exploring and exploiting, conserving and managing the natural resources, whether living or nonliving, of the waters superjacent to the seabed and its subsoil, and with regard to other activities for the economic exploitation and exploration of that zone, and shall have jurisdiction over that zone in accordance with international law.
