Abstract
This Law, in order to protect the life and health of people, prescribes the measures aimed to reduce and restrict the effective use of tobacco and its deriving or similar products, also with the aim of preventing their harmful effects, use of harmful ingredients and their emissions.
Tobacco products are cigarettes and other tobacco products (cigars, cigarillos, cut tobacco, pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco, snuff tobacco, and other tobacco processed products) obtained by industrial production, wholly or partly composed of tobacco, which can also be genetically modified. Tobacco products can be used for smoking, inhalation, chewing or oral use.
Measures to reduce and restrict the use of tobacco products include prohibition of advertising, production, marketing and labelling of tobacco products, in accordance with the principles established by the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.
This text transposes the provisions contained in the Directive 2014/40/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 3 April 2014 on the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States concerning the manufacture, presentation and sale of tobacco and related products and repealing Directive 2001/37/EC; Directive 2003/33/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 May 2003 on the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States relating to the advertising and sponsorship of tobacco products, and other, see the end of this publication for the complete list.
