Law on Standardization (Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Law No. 28/2014).

This Law provides for establishing standards for products, production processes and services in Myanmar. Chapter I contains the title and definitions. Chapter II lays down the objectives of the law which include, determining Myanmar Standards, consumer protection, supporting export promotion and protection of environment. Chapter III establishes the National Standard Council and lays down its functions and duties. Chapter IV forms the Standard Working Committee and lays down its functions and duties. Chapter 5 and 6 contain the procedure for application and issuance of accreditation certificate and certification for products, production process and services. Chapter VII provides for actions by the Committee in case of violations by certificate holders. Chapter VIII provides for appeal against the order of the Committee. Chapter IX lays down the offences and penalties. Chapter X and XI contain provisions relating to finances and other general provisions.
