Abstract
This Law provides for natural disaster management in Myanmar. Chapter II lays down the objectives of the Law which includes implementation of natural disaster management programmes and reduction of disaster risks. Chapter III forms the National Natural Disaster Management Committee and provides for its duties and powers. Chapter IV contains the provisions for formation of Regional or State Natural Disaster Management Bodies and their duties and powers. Chapter V gives the power to the President to declare natural disaster affected area. Chapter VI provides for natural disaster management provisions and includes measures for preparation and prevention of disasters, emergency response measures, and rehabilitation and reconstruction activities. Chapter VII establishes the Natural Disaster Management Fund at the national and regional levels. Chapter VIII lays down the offences and chapter IX provides for miscellaneous provisions.
