Notification No. 28/2020 of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation on banning import of air conditioners using HCFCs (R22 refrigerant) from July 2020.

This Notication is enacted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation of Myanmar for banning the import of air conditioners using HCFCs (R22 refrigerant).
According to the Notification, the import of air conditioners (HCFCs/R-22 based split and window type air conditioner equipment) of 2.5 hp or less using hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs/R-22) shall be banned from July 1, 2020. Violation of laws or regulations shall result in imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year, a fine or both in accordance with Article 32 of the Environmental Conservation Law.
