Abstract
The purpose of the Salt Regulations is to ensure Myanmar produces sufficient, affordable, and high-quality salt. The Regulations aim to expand production areas, improve output and quality through better technology, support national consumption needs, and allow surplus salt to be exported.
The Regulations establish licensing rules for producing salt, iodized salt, and refined salt, setting requirements for production sites, equipment, storage, and workforce capacity. License holders must follow technical standards and maintain accurate records. Inspectors are authorized to monitor operations, collect samples, and enforce compliance. Violations—such as operating without a license—may result in penalties, confiscation of products, or suspension of activities.
