Abstract
This Technical Regulations for Export and Import of Fishery Products is issued by the Department of Fisheries. The major objective of these technical regulations is to achieve smooth flow of trade of fish and fishery products from and into the Union of Myanmar.
The Technical Regulations are based on WTO-SPS agreement for fishery establishments to operate in food safety activities through the supply chain like that fishing vessels, landing sites, auction markets, hatcheries, aquaculture, feed plants, ice making plants for fishery products and processing establishments according to the international market requirements. The Technical Regulations make provisions, inter alia, for: food hygene and safety control throughout the food chain in the fishery sector; requirements for quality and safety of fish and fishery products at all stages of production, storage and distribution; establishing HACCP based control system by the food business as a tool to achieve food safety.
