Abstract
National Strategy for Promoting Healthy Nutrition and Physical Activity has been developed to improve the work of fostering healthy lifestyles and healthy behaviors among the population. The Strategy is implemented through collaboration between sectoral and cross-sectoral organizations, and through the participation and initiative of businesses and enterprises.
The scope of the Strategy is to prevent risk factors and reduce spread premature death and disability by up to 50 percent by choosing the correct nutrition, reducing alcohol consumption, and quitting smoking, increasing consumption of fruits and vegetables, and reducing salt and fat consumption. The primary objective is to create an environment for sustainable activities that support proper food consumption and public physical activity at the individual, community, organizational, and national levels with a view of reducing morbidity and mortality in the population.
Strategic targets include: (a) creating mechanisms to support healthy nutrition and exercise through pricing and tax policies; (b) adopting nutritional quality, safety, and caloric value of food products control, meeting established standards; (c) monitoring the implementation of operational guidelines and premises standards for public catering; (d) provision of equipment to monitor and assess the nutritional status and physical activity of clients in health and fitness institutions, improving domestic food production; (e) promotion of breastfeeding; (f) improving school feeding; and (g) implementing right to food concept.
