Abstract
This Law, consisting of 5 Chapters, aims to regulate the food safety at all stages of the food chain. The scope of the Law is to regulate basic food commodities associated with food production and storage, transportation, at all stages of the food chain, such as; sale and distribution, import, export, packaging and labelling. In addition, it establishes relations arising from other raw materials and food products, establishing protection, laws on animal genetics, health and regulations shall be governed by this law. This Law applies to livestock products security for the import of animals, feed and fertilizer for agricultural production; food preparation, processing and storage for personal use. The Law is divided as follows: General provisions (Chap. I); Food product activities (Chap. II); Requirements for raw materials and food products (Chap. III); Raw materials and products and safety controls (Chap. IV); Offences and penalties (Chap. V).

Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force on 1 May 2013. Paragraph 20.2 of art. 7.1 shall enter into force on 1 November 2014.
